Status Quo Questionnaire
Describe your current style in three adjectives.
polished, french-ish, elevated but not stuffy
What was your favorite outfit in the past two weeks and why?
sezane brown cropped wool trousers, cream silk button-down, black cashmere ribbed cropped sweater, black heeled boots, brown top coat. I like the layers, how it felt polished and effortless yet totally cool all at once.
List your five most-worn colors during the last two weeks. How well do you feel these represent your individual preference for colors?
brown, red, white, cream, black
What types of silhouettes and fit did you wear most often?
straight-leg jeans, cropped sweater or oversized button down, ballet flats or sneakers.
How much variety do you need? Do you enjoy wearing a wide range of different colors, silhouettes, and details, or do you like having a signature look that you repeat with only minor variations?
I prefer to have a signature look with minor variations, plays on the signature.
Do you tend to follow a specific formula for putting together your outfit? Do you have a uniform?
very much have a formula, my jeans are all basically the same shape, 99% of the time I’m wearing jeans and then I can decide on a top - sweater, button down, or blouse / tee-shirt. For shoes, it’s pretty much always ballet flats or a tennis shoe.
2.
Do you prefer being overdressed or underdressed?
overdressed. Always.
Overall, how comfortable were your outfits?
pretty comfortable, not fidgeting or annoyed with how pieces are fitting / draping.
How do you usually style your outfits?
I don’t really too much in terms of style. A top most of the time gets a half-tuck in the front, jeans are sometimes cuffed to half-tucked into my jean. Sleeves are cuffed on sweaters and jackets. Jewelry consists of my wedding ring and a small charm necklace. My workbag is a Clare V. navy and brown stripped tote that goes with everything.
How was is it for you to choose an outfit in the morning?
I tend to get outfit paralysis as I have too many options that might / could work.
What is your stance on repeating outfits?
really hate it but I need to get over that. No one notices, nor do they care.
What is your typical decision-making process when it comes to buying clothes? Do you often buy things on a whim, or do you tend to make sure you have compared all your options first?
once I get it in my head I need something / something is missing in my wardrobe, it occupies far too much brain space until I break down and just buy it. I also buy things on a whim, without too much thought, having assured myself I need it / my closet is going to be a million times better because I now have it. I just shop, thinking it’s out of neccessity.
What do you want to change about your personal style?
nothing. I want to wear what’s in my closet better, and take a more intentional approach to getting dressed in the morning.
Is there anything you want to change about the way you shop?
I’d like to shop less, overall. Not convince myself I need something, or that my life is incomplete with out this one shirt / jacket / pair of shoes. Just shop less, wear what I already more, and focus on buying fewer things overall, saving up for luxury accessories I really want (looking at you, Louis Vuitton passport cover).
Set Style Goals
What do you like about your style and current wardrobe?
I like my style and I love my wardrobe. Each piece fits into my style aesthetic quite nicely.
Which aspects of your wardrobe need work?
I want to be re-inspired to get dressed and wear all these pieces I’ve spent so much time and money collecting to their fullest potential. I want to love every outfit I wear every day, and not feel regret that I didn’t pick the right outfit or wear something wrong when there’s a way it could have been done better.
